ABOUT PHILIP

Philip helped launch online grocer FreshDirect.com, which quickly became the US's premier Internet food retailer. His work there has included creative direction, graphic design, video production, copywriting, and wearing a lobster costume. He has since served as Creative Operations Manager at Blue Apron and as head of creative for Baldor, the food wholesaler to NYC’s top restaurants and retailers. He has contributed to dozens of other brands and agencies and pursued many more personal artistic projects.

As a boy, Philip would climb onto the roof of his grandparents’ Central Florida house to watch the Space Shuttle blast off. “Someday,” he said to himself, “this will make a great line for the About page of my website.” Seriously, it was an inspiring upbringing, living somewhere between the Space Center and Walt Disney World, geographically and spiritually.

He studied Communication and Drama at Flagler College. After college, he produced TV ads for the Jacksonville, FL market. His clients included Christmas stores, muffler shops, BBQ restaurants, and a private investigator. In 2001 he moved to New York City. Since then he has also directed over 20 stage plays, including a run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

On his honeymoon, he was threatened by a wild silverback gorilla. He enjoys tropical drinks and playing the guitar.

(Philip, that is. The gorilla’s interests are unknown.)
